Burst into 2014 with God's Love for you

Brethren I do not count myself to have apprehended but one thing I do forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead. I press toward the goal for the prize of the Upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13

Psalm 4

Our Bible Reading...     

1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Today we will start with vs 4

"The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. " 

What the ungodly does doesn't last and is forgotten. 

vs. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous

Vs. 6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish .

The Lord knows the ways of the righteous .. God knows our ways if we are righteous. 

The "way" of the ungodly shall perish.

    Yesterday we started studying Psalm 1 today.. we will continue from there...  

Our Bible Reading...

Beginning our study today...

Verse 2 But his delight is in the Law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

  we see a difference here... But His Delight ! ...what makes him happy what he pursues --- is in the LAW OF THE LORD  - The Bible - and his Law he thinks about and ponders day and night.

We don't meditate like the eastern religions repeating the same word over and over.. but we meditate like thinking... kind of what we are doing right here... we think about the Bible passages we read we ask the Holy Spirit to teach us what it means and memorize and we do this throughout the day. We don't let our mind just wonder around like a lost child but we take hold of our thoughts and think about the Bible. This man is blessed!


verse 3

 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

  I did a little checking to see about a tree planted along a river. The tree draws it's survival from the river and it also tends to survive in it's life cycle with the river. Which as a Christian we draw from the Word of God.

We will bring forth our fruit... the things that God is building in us at the proper time.. and our leaf won't wither ... we will be fresh and alive and everything we set our hand to do.. and our life in general will prosper..  All this for staying in the Word of God.

Don't just sit there... Lift your hands and praise the Lord.

He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.- Psalm 40:2


     On Christ the Solid Rock I stand... all other ground... is sinking sand! 

Join with Clay and me coming into 2014 as we study the Bible together. I have a funny Bible plan but I have been doing it for years and it works for me! I start out reading Genesis, Psalms, Proverbs, and Revelation... then I read forwards and backwards from each one and sometimes I even just start a new book of the Bible the goal is to finish the entire Bible each year. Work the plan that works for you... or join in with me and try my method to see if it helps you in your reading... I am not going to officially begin my yearly reading until January 1st but in the meantime I am going to read from Psalms until January so join in and feed your spirit and grow in your faith with the Lord Jesus Christ. To keep you in the know I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour when I was 5 and Clay accepted Jesus when he was a child as well. Both of us are born again Christians.. 
Now onto today's Bible study...

   Psalm 1:1.... Who are you hanging around? What are you listening to? Who is influencing you? 
 
-- walking in the counsel of the ungodly.. Where are you heading? ... who is giving you the "INFLUENCES" in your life.. do you think according to the BIBLE.. or yourself? Remember the Bible says the heart is deceitful... are you lining up your life with the Bible? 

Wnere are you heading? STOP RIGHT THERE.. and build your life upon the most glorious WORD OF GOD. 

YOU WILL BE BLESSED NOW if you line up your life with the Bible.... This verse is talking about how to be blessed in life!

So we we see this guy.. walking now he is standing.. 

   It is a heart thing... Now he's in agreement.. stopping to ponder... making himself one of them.. taking a stand so to speak... this guy isn't  blessed at all! It could be a person standing with the people who have questionable  business practices, a girlfriend who is gossiping and hateful and living a lifestyle you are tempted by, it could be adultery in the heart... secrets of the heart.. etc.. 

"nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful"

b. The expression of such an attitude in behavior or speech; derision.

2. One spoken of or treated with contempt.

Don't make me throw up over here.. don't even say that you make fun of God, listen to those people that make fun of God and Jesus and are getting sucked into those who are daily scorning, making jokes, and poking fun at God, on TV , in conversation etc.. Remember God is not mocked... 

So people continue on the path.. they walk, then stand,,, and then find themselves seated.... involved in behavior not becoming to a child of God.. Now we are talking about the blessed man here.. so anyone behaving as these will NOT BE BLESSED.... we are the blessed... we FLEE such behavior and do the OPPOSITE...  so if you got "sucked in " just repent and walk in the opposite direction...
